Us who live in Norway takes going to school for granted. It is something we have to do, not something we want to do. We complain about doing our homework, and about going to school. On the other side of the globe children would do anything to be in our positions, so why aren’t we more grateful?
All humans have a right to education, but this right isn’t followed up everywhere. In fact only 7% of the worlds population attend college, which means that 93% don’t. The fact that so few people attend college shocked me. Everyone should at least have the oppurtunity, but unfortunately this isn’t the case.
Families in poor countries often can’t afford to send all of their children to school. They end up having to choose one child that gets to go there. I sympathize with the children who don’t get to go to school, but also with the ones that do. Imagine what kind of preassure they are under. Their family chose them, so now the better do well. Otherwise they are just wasting an opputunity someone else could have gotten.
